The Vault Of Kubrick

Last Friday I went with a couple of friends to visit the Stanley Kubrick Archive at the London College of Communication; courtesy of our host and Senior Archivist, Richard Daniels. Richard is an absolute mine of information regarding Kubrick and his work and after showing us into the main room, (designed to reference the space station in 2001: A Space Odyssey), he took us into the atmosphere controlled archive itself. State-of-the-art remote controlled doors slide back, each in turn to reveal corridors housing relics from every aspect of Kubrick's career.

The Archive itself runs to approximately 900 linear metres and includes production paperwork, letters, props, costumes, publicity materials, production photographs, research, photographs, plans, books, audiovisual material, equipment and press cuttings. This makes my Secret Oranges cupboard pale in comparison!

Exhibition: Sophie’s World
As mentioned here a while back; I'll be exhibiting a series of previously unseen photographs of the Doctor's much-loved companion "Ace", Sophie Aldred, at the Orbital Gallery in London from 5th - 30th September 2013. Sophie will be making an appearance and signing too. The negatives for these photographs have been missing for 22 years, but are now making a date with my trusty hi-res scanner! Secret Origins: When Dan Green and John Romita Jr. Visited Marvel UK

This shot of Dan Green and John Romita Jr. was taken in 1985 during a visit to our rather shabby looking Marvel UK offices in London by some of the artists and writers working for Marvel US at the time. Dan and John were accompanied by Ann Nocenti and Chris Claremont who can also be seen in my Secret Origins project. The art they were were working on here was to be shown on Good Morning Britain, a tv breakfast show presented by Anne Diamond and Nick Owen, who are the characters being held aloft by Colossus (below). This X-Men artwork was then given away to a lucky young prizewinner as part of a promotional competition.
